M.2 SSD prices in the UK (NVMe)
Published: Updated:
M.2 NVMe drives priced in pounds at UK retailers, VAT included, ranked by cost per terabyte. The US list is tracked separately in dollars.
UK prices coming soon
We have not imported any UK prices yet, so there is nothing to rank. When the first import runs, this list shows new, in-stock offers in pounds, VAT included, cheapest per TB first, with the time each price was recorded. We never fill gaps with estimates.
What to check before you buy
Slot type. M.2 describes the shape, not the protocol: an M.2 slot can be wired for NVMe (PCI Express), for SATA, or both. NVMe drives need an M-key slot that supports PCIe. Check the manual of your motherboard or laptop.
PCIe generation. Each PCIe generation doubles the per-lane rate — 8 GT/s for PCIe 3.0, 16 GT/s for 4.0 and 32 GT/s for 5.0 (PCI-SIG). Drives are backward compatible but run at the slower of the two: Sandisk notes its PCIe 4.0 WD_BLACK SN850X works in PCIe Gen3 slots (Sandisk). A PCIe 5.0 drive in a PCIe 4.0 slot is paying for speed you cannot use.
Length. Most desktop and many laptop slots take M.2 2280 (22 × 80 mm). Small handhelds and some ultrabooks use 2230 or 2242. Match the length your device supports.
Heatsink. Many NVMe drives are sold with and without a heatsink. A PS5 requires a cooling structure on the drive, a PCIe Gen4 x4 M.2 NVMe drive and a total height within Sony’s limits (Sony). In desktops, many boards have their own M.2 heatsinks — the version without a heatsink is the one to compare.
Endurance (TBW). Endurance ratings grow with capacity. The SN850X, for example, is rated at 600 TBW at 1TB and 2,400 TBW at 4TB (Sandisk). Compare TBW at the same capacity.
About UK prices
- VAT included. Prices are in pounds sterling and include VAT, the way UK retailers show them to consumers. Delivery charges are not included.
- Planned sources. We plan to track UK retailers such as Scan and Overclockers UK; Ebuyer is under review. None is connected yet, and no retailer pays to be listed.
- Tracked separately. UK prices are collected from UK shops — they are not US prices converted from dollars, so the cheapest drive per TB can differ between the two lists.
- Time stamps are shown in UK time. Full rules: methodology.
